Yearn is a sorcery in Dark Souls II.

In-Game Description

Creates a warm soul-like orb that serves as a decoy and lures foes toward itself.
People regret loss, and yearn for what they do not have. Perhaps the name of this sorcery harkens to this irony.

Availability[]

Sold by Carhillion of the Fold for 3,000 souls.

General information[]

Attracts certain enemies toward it, distracting them from the player. This spell pulls many kinds of enemies toward it and is useful for crowd control. When cast, Yearn fires a ball of light wherever the player is facing. The ball will stick to any surface it hits, and if it doesn't hit any, it will come to a stop. Lasts 10 seconds.

One of the most useful spells in the game for crowd control, Yearn only works on specific enemies. This spell can greatly reduce the difficulty of the Executioner's Chariot and Skeleton Lords bosses, which both feature mobs of skeletons. Also very effective for luring Undead Citizens into self-destructing, or at the very least, keeping them away from the player.

If cast off a cliff, affected enemies will still try to reach it, resulting in their death. This may be used for farming.
