The Tower Kite Shield is a medium shield in Dark Souls.

In-Game Description

Medium metal shield. Decorated with a tower, the symbol of protection. A standard, widely-used shield.

Availability

The Tower Kite Shield is the starting shield for the Knight class. It can also be purchased from Andre of Astora for 1,000 souls.

Characteristics

The Tower Kite Shield is identical to the Caduceus Kite Shield in terms of stats. It is a balanced and strong shield that remains effective for the entire game, although it lacks any special traits like the poison resistance of the Spider Shield or the high stability of the Balder Shield.

While it eventually becomes outclassed by the Silver Knight Shield, its light weight and low Strength requirement can still make it useful for builds with very low Strength or that need to conserve weight.

It has a medium deflection, normal parry speed, and when upgraded to crystal the durability is 25.

Resistance Defense

Along with Physical and Elemental damage reduction, weapons also have hidden stats that reduce the amount of status build-up while blocking.

Running Attack	Holds shield up and runs forward, then swings open at the end.*

Kick	Push away with the shield.

Left-handed Strong Attack	Parry.
