  • Hey guys, I wonder does Solaire really mean SUN when he says "sun" or...

I started NG and when I got to solaire I carefully listened to his dialog, so here's the deal. In one of his dialog options he mentions analogy, "The sun is a wondrous body. Like a magnificent father!" as far as I know he's the firstborn of gwyn, does his search for the "sun" actually mean search for his father? that may just explain why exactly he became undead willingly, that may also explain why

[SPOILERS] he's so depressed in Demon ruins he may just have figured out that Gwyn is his father and he's lost forever. [/SPOILERS]

    what do you think?

    • nope. the developers said that they excluded gwyn's firstborn from the game entirely, Solaire is just a follower.

pretty much everybody thinks hes gwyns firstborn when hes not :P

    • What if Solaire is the son of the firstborn? Then both things could be true.

    • u saying the developers were usin reverse psychology? no

    • The Developers already stated thus, 1 Solaire is not the first born of gwyn, 2 the intended NPC that was going to be but is not the first born was Andre of Astora, the smith in undead perish, the only idea that i have heard that holds any weight is that Knight Solaire is the son of the first born, or is Just a memeber of the Warriors of sunlight that was founded by the first born, whichever the case is Solaire is/was depending on how you play the game a BAMF by pure skill alone.

    • Honestly, I agree with the descendent theory. It's implied that the firstborn's godly status was taken away long ago, so he would either be extremely old or dead. Solaire, on the other hand, looks rather young. However, Solaire carries the only copy of a sunlight straightsword, the same sword seen in the statue of the warriors of sunlight.

    • The weapon in the sunlight altar statue looks more like a huge spear than a sword, but the statue is in pieces so it is hard to tell, in any case it does not look like Solaire's sword – the proportions are off. The sword that the baby is holding in the various mother-child statues that are speculated to be the firstborn and his mother does not look exactly the same as the Sunlight Straightsword either.

    • Are not all members of the "god race" taller than the humans? But Solaire is the same size. It may be that he's not even a distant relative. :)

Unlucky Solaire. Maybe he found THIS out in the demon ruins and went nuts.

    • Before the demon ruins Solaire was in Anor Londo correct? And Anor Londo is a place with a fake sun. Could it be why Solaire is depressed.

    • honestly i am surprised that Solaire has no interaction (actual or implied) with Gwyndolin, would've made perfect sense for Gwyndolin to convince Solaire to protect the illusion of Gwynevere.

    • Shouldn't this have been posted in the lore discussions part of the forum?

    • Who knows. Maybe he thought he was the first born, but when he went into Izalith he found out he was not.

Perhaps he simply realized the futility of his quest.

Give the poor dude a flashlight or something, that'll work.

Please refrain from necroposting in threads created years ago. It was known since the first game that Solaire wasn't Gwyns firstborn and DaS3 pretty much confirmed it.

    • yeah, the "gods race" is indeed taller than an average human, what do i believe ? Solaire was a nameless orphan, the name "Solaire" was given by Farron "farron is the name of the nameless king", and thus he was raised by the warriors of sunlight knights, later he found out that he was a nameless orphan raised by gwyns first born, and some people actually have stopped to thin what was the name of gwyn's wife ? maybe was Lady (insert first name) Astora, her statues can be seen over all lordran carrying a baby with guess what, the sunlight straigt sword, after gwyn enkindled the first flame, all gods left lordran, including Lady Astora, so my theory is that solaire is an adopted child by Farron, he grew up in the city of gwyns wife, and then the nameless king passed on the sunlight straigh sword to solaire after seeing his unbeakable faith , also farron armor set looks like an improved version of Solaire's set, more refined, the green stuff and the sun were painted and added by solaire himself remember that
