The Target Shield is a small shield in Dark Souls III.
In-Game Description
- A small, round metal shield.
- The four distinctive protrusions are designed to brush attacks aside, making it ideal for parrying.

Repel an attack at the right time to follow up with a critical hit. Works while equipped in either hand.

- Starting equipment for the Assassin class.
- Sold by Greirat of the Undead Settlement for 2,500 souls once he returns from his first pillaging run in the Undead Settlement.
- Sold by the Shrine Handmaid for the same price once she is given Greirat's Ashes.
Characteristics[]
The Target Shield has relatively low requirements to wield, though unlike most other shields it requires at least a small amount of investment in Dexterity. Like other Small Shields, it does not provide very much protection when used to block attacks.
What sets the Target Shield apart from its peers is that it is one of three Parrying Shields in the game, along with the Small Leather Shield and the Buckler, with active parrying frames starting up faster than on most other Small Shields. In this regard, the Target Shield provides the best of both worlds, possessing a higher stability and physical absorption than the other two Parrying Shields, which allows it to somewhat safeguard its wielder from attacks.
