The Sunlight Straight Sword shares the same moveset as the Long Sword and has unremarkable physical stat scaling at base level, which when fully-reinforced, will improve up to C/C scaling, remaining average at best.
It does, however, scale with one's Faith, with C-scaling at base level, but when fully-reinforced, it will improve up to B. Although it might have lower physical scaling, it is still very much a formidable weapon for a straight sword, should one meet the faith requirement.
However, there are some notable drawbacks to the weapon. Much like the Astora Straight Sword, it requires a minimum amount of Faith in order to be used effectively (although this sword does scale with faith), hindering its use to only those who have the Faith to do so. It is notable for having a unique weapon skill that, when activated, functions similarly to the Sacred Oath miracle, instead of the typical stance-like arts of many other straight swords, which may be a hindrance to otherwise aggressive playstyles.
It cannot be infused by any means, but it is fully-buffable.

Weapon skill overviewEdit
The player slowly raises the sword close to themself, and then points it up in the air. After a brief moment of channeling, an effect similar to Sacred Oath will appear in front of them as the tip of the pommel illuminates, applying a temporary increase to the damage output and absorption of the player and any nearby teammates (or NPCs). The buff lasts for roughly 60 seconds, consumes 40 FP per cast, can be refreshed at any time, and thus is an otherwise weaker version of the miracle itself.
In terms of effectiveness, it can potentially stack with other self-augmentations, but must be used sequentially to avoid cancelling anything else. For instance, Tears of Denial must be cast after buffing with Oath of Sunlight in order to avoid one cancelling out the former. The same goes for the use of Green Blossoms, Power Within, Sacred Oath itself, etc.
- Prior to Patch 1.13, the Sunlight Straight Sword originally scaled only with strength and dexterity, and possessed a rather high bonus as well (B/B). Whilst the two attributes might have received a lower scaling bonus (from C/C - B/B to D/D - C/C), it now has faith scaling (C - B).
- The Sunlight Straight Sword has appeared in each of the Dark Souls games to date (Dark Souls, Dark Souls II, and Dark Souls III), and is often referenced alongside the notable Knight Solaire, and the Warrior of Sunlight covenant.
- Reinforced with Twinkling Titanite.
