The Sunken King is a mentioned character in the Dark Souls II DLC, Crown of the Sunken King.
Lore[]
The Sunken King was the leader of a race that worshiped Sinh, the Slumbering Dragon. During his reign, he took Elana as his queen, although it is uncertain if, due to her nature as a shard of Manus, whether she loved him or desired his strength. He ordered his people to build the Eternal Sanctum, a great shrine, to protect and preserve Sinh's slumber.
However, Sir Yorgh and his Drakeblood Knights later invaded Shulva in search of dragon's blood. The Sunken King fell by Yorgh's spear, as did the sanctum's defenders; most of whoever remained in the city were killed when Yorgh pierced Sinh and the dragon unleashed a cloud of death upon the city.
It is unknown if the Sunken King ordered his people to build Shulva by his own will or by Elana's.

Trivia[]
- His crown is obtained by killing Sinh, indicating his body, or at least his crown, was likely eaten by the dragon after the beast awoke.
- Cut content from the Scholar of the First Sin update revealed the Sunken King's name to be Gryth, and that some remnant of him would later become the toxic creature known as the Rotten.[1]
