The Spears of the Church is a covenant in Dark Souls III. It is introduced in The Ringed City DLC, making it the only covenant in the Dark Souls series to be a DLC-exclusive.

In-Game Description

The Spears of the Church watch over the Princess' slumber, and when the church is compromised by a trespasser, the Judicator summons them as loyal spirits to eliminate the threat.
Loyal spirits summoned as Spears of the Church are granted a blessing of protection.[1]

Requirements[]

The player must have defeated Darkeater Midir and acquired the Spears of the Church covenant item.

How to join[]

The player must simply equip the Spears of the Church covenant item.

Benefits[]

While a Spear of the Church, the player can be automatically summoned to another player's world to be a boss in the Spear of the Churc hboss fight. While summoned as a boss, the player will be able to use the Ritual Spear Fragment and the Divine Spear Fragment.

Unlike other covenants, a Spear of the Church may be summoned in to combat a lone player who is not a Host of Embers, making this covenant the only one with such a mechanic in Dark Souls III.

The covenant is ranked up by offering Filianore's Spear Ornaments to the Divine Spear Monument outside the church where the Spear of the Church boss fight takes place.
