The Small Leather Shield is a small shield in Dark Souls.

In-Game Description

Small, leather-covered round shield, reinforced in critical spots with metal.

Small shields are always less stable, but landing critical hits after parry is easier.

Availability

The Small Leather Shield is given to the Sorcerer class at the beginning of the game. It can also be purchased from the Undead Male Merchant for 600 souls.

Characteristics

The Small Leather Shield has light deflection and a fast parry window. The Small Leather Shield is the lightest shield in the game, along with the Dark Hand, however can have a total of 50 Stability at +15 Standard compared to the Dark Hand's 30 Stability.  Its crystal durability is 20.

Resistance Defense

Along with Physical and Elemental damage reduction, weapons also have hidden stats that reduce the amount of status build-up while blocking.

Attack	Description
One-handed Weak Attack	Diagonal swing to the left.
One-handed Strong Attack	Strong horizontal swings alternating from left to right. Some starting lag.
Two-handed Weak Attack	Shield Bash.*
Two-handed Strong Attack	Holds shield up and runs forward, then slams it down at the end. Additional inputs yield a horizontal swing.*
Jump Attack	Slams shield into the ground.
Running Attack	Holds shield up and runs forward, then swings open at the end.*
Rolling Attack	Downward swing.
Kick	Push away with the shield.
Left-handed Weak Attack	Block.
Left-handed Strong Attack	Parry (type: fast).
