The Shotel is a curved sword in Dark Souls III.

In-Game Description

Broadly curved sword known as the favored weapon of the tragic Embraced Knight.

Shaped to sneak around the defenses of shields, this sword requires ample dexterity to wield effectively.

Skill: Spin Slash
Slice into foes with a large spinning motion, and follow with strong attack for a spinning vertical-slash.

Availability

Two are sold by Unbreakable Patches for 4,000 souls.

Characteristics

The Shotel is an unusual curved sword that utilizes the "light curved sword" moveset of the Scimitar, but combines it with specialized strong attacks that are designed to exploit its specialized ability to deal damage through raised shields. With speed and damage output comparable to that of the Scimitar, the Shotel is a very useful weapon for dealing with enemies with constantly raised shields, though it must be two-handed to prevent it from recoiling, leaving the wielder vulnerable to Instability damage.

At very high levels of Dexterity, a Shotel infused with a Sharp Gem unfortunately cannot keep up with other infusable curved swords, weakening its utility on extremely specialized builds.

Moveset

Attack	Description
One-handed Weak Attack	Right-to-left slash with slight downward angle, followed by horizontal left-to-right slash.
One-handed Strong Attack	Strong downward slashes, alternating directions.
Two-handed Weak Attack	Two-handed horizontal slash, followed by horizontal slash in the reverse direction.
Two-handed Strong Attack	Same as one-handed, but gripping the sword in both hands.
Jump Attack	Jumping horizontal slash.
Two-handed Jump Attack	Same as one-handed.
Running Attack	Very fast upward slash, short range but almost no telegraph.
Two-handed Running Attack	Same as one-handed, only gripping sword in both hands.
Rolling Attack	Fast horizontal slash from left to right.
Two-handed Rolling Attack	Same as above, but puts whole body into rotation.
Kick	Quick horizontal slash followed by backwards cartwheel.
Off-handed Weak Attack	Mirrored version of one-handed weak attacks.
Off-handed Strong Attack	Parry.

Trivia

• The "Embraced Knight" mentioned in the description, Knight Lautrec of Carim, was voiced by William Vanderpuye. Unbreakable Patches, who sells the Shotels, is also voiced by Vanderpuye.
