Characteristics[]
The Shortsword is the second-lightest straight sword in the game, tied with the Cleric's Candlestick and beaten only by the Broken Straight Sword. Additionally, it ties with several other straight swords for having the lowest Strength wielding requirement. In exchange, it has rather short attack range and its damage output is mediocre for a weapon of its class. These combined characteristics make the Shortsword ideal for players who do not prioritize melee combat or have low investment in Vitality, but still want a reliable combat option in a pinch.
The Shortsword shares the same moveset as the Lothric Knight Sword, in particular its thrusting strong attacks. This makes the Leo Ring a handy complement.
