The Scimitar is a curved sword in Dark Souls III.

In-Game Description

Small curved sword that excels in swift movements and consecutive attacks.
The scimitar's flesh-rending slash attacks are greatly compromised against armor and tough scale-covered hides.
Skill: Spin Slash
Slice into foes with a large spinning motion, and follow with strong attack for a spinning vertical-slash.



The Scimitar is a light and fast weapon that excels at chaining together numerous small attacks to quickly stack up damage on its target. Its attacks are fast with very short delays, but this is countered by having rather short range, requiring the wielder to get in close with the enemy. These characteristics help the Scimitar to define the "light curved sword" moveset that it shares with its lighter brethren.

The drawback of the Scimitar is that while it can chain together numerous small attacks, it lacks the heavier punch required to prevail against armored foes. Its strong attacks are simply chains of weak attacks, as is its skill. As well, it does not possess a kick, but rather a quick slash that can be used to create distance from a foe; this prevents the weapon from being used to break the guard of a shield.

However, complementing its light and fast nature, is that it possesses a usable off-hand moveset that allows it and other light curved swords to be wielded in the off-hand for unusual combinations. The off-hand weak attack mirrors that of the main-hand one-handed weak attacks, allowing for the use of a heavier weapon in the main hand to bring both fast and slow attacks to bear on opponents. The off-hand strong attack causes the wielder to perform a parry, with similar startup and active frames as a medium shield, further increasing its offensive potential.

The Scimitar takes remarkably well to Infusions, gaining immense scaling when infused Sharp, Chaos or Dark.

Weak Attack
Right-to-left slash with slight downward angle, followed by horizontal left-to-right slash.
Strong Attack
Downward right-to-left slash followed by jumping circular motion into another slash. Further input results in horizontal slash with slight delay.
Weak Attack
Two-handed horizontal slash, followed by horizontal slash in the reverse direction.
Strong Attack
Two-handed horizontal slash into jumping circular downwlard slash. Further input yields delayed upward slash.
Jump Attack Jumping horizontal slash.
Jump Attack
Same as one-handed.
Running Attack Very fast upward slash, short range but almost no telegraph.
Running Attack
Same as one-handed, only gripping sword in both hands.
Rolling Attack Fast horizontal slash from left to right.
Rolling Attack
Same as above, but puts whole body into rotation.
Kick Quick horizontal slash followed by backwards cartwheel.
Weak Attack
Mirrored version of one-handed weak attacks.
