The Sage's Big Hat is a unique head armor piece in Dark Souls III.

In-Game Description

Enormous hat that completely obscures the face. Belonged to twin gurus known as the Crystal Sages.

The pair are said to be successors to the great sage Logan, and this big hat is a symbol of their pedigree.

Availability

Sold by the Shrine Handmaid for 10,000 souls once the Crystal Sage has been defeated in the Road of Sacrifices.

Trivia

• There is a mask hidden underneath the brim of the hat. This mask is reminiscent of the beaked masks of plague doctors (even the lenses are nearly identical), which was used as a respirator and was often filled with pleasant scents, such as flowers and spices. They filled the beaks with these things due to the belief that plague was spread through bad scents at the time of their use. How this relates to the Sages is uncertain.
• If one wears this and then signs out of that character, their head image in the main menu will just be the vast brim of the hat, as it obscures the entire head and shoulders.
• The four hollows that wear this hat do not wear the mask that is a part of the hat that you can wear. Their version of the hat is also slightly darker in shade.
