- For the Dark Souls III variant, see Sacred Oath (Dark Souls III).
Sacred Oath is a miracle in Dark Souls II.
In-Game Description
- An ancient miracle said to have been devised by warriors who once served the God of Sun.
- Provides a temporary boost to the attack and defense of its caster and all nearby allies.
Availablity[]
Received by trading the Soul of Velstadt and 3,000 souls with Straid of Olaphis.
General Information[]
An area-of-effect buff that provides an additional 50 physical attack rating and a bonus of 75 physical defense to the caster and nearby allies. The duration scaling of this Miracle depends on Faith and ranges from 40 seconds when this spell is spiced down to 10 Faith all the way up to 65 seconds at 35 Faith where the duration scaling is capped.
Due to the very high attunement slot requirement, some investment in the Attunement stat or the Southern Ritual Band+2 may be required to use this effectively with other spells.
Buff Overriding[]
As with other buffs of similar nature, casting another buff like Great Magic Barrier will remove the buffs from Sacred Oath, and vice versa, if the player is only buffing themselves with no other allies around. The only workaround with this is if the player was summoned by, or had summoned, another player and they cast a buff on their own; this will cause the buffs to compound with one another, making it ideal for someone to cast a protective miracle of sorts, and another player follows up with Sacred Oath.
Sacred Oath has a unique interaction when using it in combination with a Brightbug. Casting Sacred Oath before using a Brightbug will stack the effects of the buffs, while reversing the order and using a Brightbug before casting Sacred oath will only give the effects of Sacred Oath. It seems that the effects of a Brightbug are not overridden by casting Sacred oath.
Notes[]
- The buff adds a direct amount of damage to the physical damage output of a weapon, and will only do so if the weapon inflicts some amount of physical damage. As such, weapons that deal pure-elemental damage, such as staves, sacred chimes, or the Moonlight Greatsword, will not receive any benefit from this buff.
- Weapons that were elemental-infused by the player gain a minute bonus (it varies between all weapons), however this can be more or less, as it typically tends to round up to a flat number. Some unique weapons, such as the Black Knight weapons or the Dragonslayer's Crescent Axe, are exempt from this, however; auxiliary-infused weapons (like a Manslayer or a Bleed Bandit's Knife) will also receive the full bonus added to the physical damage of the weapon.
- The buffs added are the same as if the player was wearing the Ring of Blades +2 and the Ring of Steel Protection +1, respectively.
- The spell duration boost of Lingering Dragoncrest Ring and Northwarder Set do not work in conjunction with Sacred Oath.
Attunement Milestones[]
Like all other spells, the amount of casts per slot increases upon reaching certain Attunement milestones:
Attunement Level | Amount of Casts |
---|---|
10 | 3 |
32 | 4 |
49 | 5 |
94 | 6 |
Duration Scaling Information[]
Duration values are listed in seconds. Base duration of this spell only depends on Faith, duration boosting items such as Lingering Dragoncrest Ring and the Northwarder Set do not boost the duration of Sacred Oath. This self buff has non-scaling ranges which is why the duration does not go up with each level of Faith.
Faith | Duration |
---|---|
10-14 | 40 |
15-19 | 45 |
20-24 | 50 |
25-34 | 60 |
35 | 65 |
