The Protective Chime is a sacred chime in Dark Souls II.
In-Game Description
- Sacred chime commonly used by clerics of Lindelt. A catalyst for miracles and hexes.
- A sacred chime serves to conduct the power of miracles, but in the past, something entirely different served the same purpose.
Availability[]
The Protective Chime can be found in a chest behind an illusory wall in Iron Keep. It is on the ledge after Belfry Sol, where the player can drop down to return to the Belfry Sol Approach. The Grand Spirit Tree Shield is found in the same chest.
Characteristics[]
For Miracles, this chime is not very notable. It is as fast as the Cleric's Sacred Chime and up until 40 Faith will be ever so slightly stronger than it, and compared to the Priest's Chime it is closer than the Cleric's in strength while still being faster but will be more and more outclassed as Faith is increased. Ultimately, it is not very useful due to being encountered much later than either Chime, which will also most likely already be upgraded a bit.
For Hexes however, there is a genuine niche. While it will in the end be outclassed in damage by the even faster Caitha's Chime, up until that point it is somewhat comparable to the Archdrake Chime due to still keeping somewhat close in power while having 20 more Casting Speed bonus.
