The Onyx Blade is a greatsword in Dark Souls III: Ashes of Ariandel.
In-Game Description
- Elfriede, the eldest amongst her sisters and leader of the Sable Chruch, bestowed this sword to her knight.
- Only, the sword was a farewell gift, and acceptance signified the knight's resignation from Elfriede's service.
- Skill: Elfriede's Blackflame
Enwreath blade with blackflame, born of the similarly-hued flame that smolders within her.
Availability
Dropped by Sir Vilhelm in the Painted World of Ariandel.
Characteristics
The Onyx Blade is an interesting weapon as it is the only weapon to deal Dark damage and it has one of the longest ranges in its class and boasts thrust attacks in its strong attacks.
The weapon art is, though simple and straightforward, effective and useful. It will merely swing the weapon to buff it with even more dark damage, however, enemies that are too close will be struck by the swing.
It has some of the lowest requirements for a greatsword in regards to Strength and Dexterity. And this makes sense as it is a weapon that caters to Pyromancer builds who already make a lot of investments in other stats.
In short it is a strong, effective and simple weapon that is made specifically for Pyromancer builds. It is in fact advisable for players with said builds, to acquire it as quickly as possible as it will carry them through most of the game.
