The Moonlight Greatsword is a greatsword in Dark Souls II.
In-Game Description
- The blade of this greatsword shines like the brilliant rays of the moon. In the oldest legends, rarely spoken of today, it is said that the sword was born of a great white being.
- The strong attack unleashes its strength, launching a wave of moonlight.
- Effect: special attack (strong attack)
Availability[]
Trade the Old Paledrake Soul to Weaponsmith Ornifex in NG+.
Characteristics[]
The Moonlight Greatsword, like its predecessor, deals pure Magic damage, and scales strongly with intelligence. Using the strong attack button allows the player to launch a magic based projectile from the greatsword, allowing to hit enemies from far range, that uses 10 durability.
Notes[]
- At around 45 Intelligence and onward, the Moonlight Greatsword should be infused with a Faintstone, as the higher scaling bonus begins to overcome the base damage drop.
- When infused with a Magic Stone, this weapon's pure Magic damage is replaced by pure Physical damage, and its physical damage reduction goes from 60% to 93.3%, making its block more efficient than most shields against physical attacks. However, this completely nullifies the damage caused by the greatsword's signature strong attack, but the poise damage remains intact.
- Due to its relatively low Strength and Dexterity requirements, this weapon is a perfect fit for pure mage builds.
