The Moaning Knight is an enemy character in Dark Souls III: The Ringed City.
Description[]
A dark spirit clad in Morne's Set. Comes armed with Morne's Great Hammer and the Moaning Shield.
Location[]
Ringed City Streets, in the grave tower after escaping Darkeater Midir's ambush in the gorge. After dropping down to the lower section of the tower, the Moaning Knight will appear in one of the burial chambers near the connecting staircase. The player does not need Host of Embers status for him to appear here.
Strategy[]
There are several Skeletons near the location where the Moaning Knight invades so it is recommended to eliminate them quickly to avoid becoming surrounded. The narrow confines of the area can make fighting the knight difficult, although the player can flee past to the upper level, where there is more space to fight.
The Knight is an aggressive fighter, although they have low vitality and can be easily staggered. As the tower has no barriers, they can be knocked off the ledge and may even fall off when attempting to evade an attack.

Trivia[]
- Their equipment implies they may be a knight from Carim.
- While the great hammer and armor are standard gear for Carim's knights, the Moaning Shield was unique in that it was designed after Eygon's sister, suggesting both could be the same character.
- The fact that he drops the Blindfold Mask also supports the theory that he and Eygon could be the same person. It's possible that in the far future, Irina dies, leaving Eygon with no maiden to protect, thus he wanders to the end of the world and loses his sanity.
