The Manus Catalyst is a catalyst in Dark Souls and is only available with the Artorias of the Abyss DLC.

In-Game Description

A sorcery catalyst born from the soul of Manus, father of the Abyss. A rough, old wooden catalyst large enough to be used as a strike weapon. Similar to the Tin Crystallization Catalyst, it boosts the strength of sorceries, but limits the number of castings.

Ascend any catalyst with the Soul of Manus at the Giant Blacksmith.

Similarly to the Tin Crystallization Catalyst, the Manus Catalyst greatly boosts the power of spells at the cost of halving their casts (including Pyromancies and Miracles), though this may be offset with use of the Dusk Crown Ring. In addition, the Manus Catalyst also boosts the power of Dark sorceries, based on the player's strength stat. The strong attack of the Manus Catalyst is quite powerful for a catalyst, but very slow, and uses the Greataxe moveset.

Magic Adjust[]

The Manus Catalyst's Magic Adjust scales very quickly with intelligence, at a rate of about 8 points per level. However, it reaches its limit at 30, where the scaling drops to about 2 points per level, until 50 intelligence.

Starting 32 int, the Manus Catalyst's Magic Adjust is outclassed by the Tin Crystallization Catalyst, which is also lighter. As intelligence grows higher, the Tin Crystallization Catalyst will out perform the Manus Catalyst even more. While the Manus Catalyst's grants a boost to dark sorceries (provided high strength), it will still not outperform the Tin Crystallization Catalyst. However, if the Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring and Dusk Crown are equipped, it can still outperform the Tin Crystallization Catalyst, albeit only in Dark Sorceries.
