The Majestic Greatsword is a greatsword in Dark Souls II: Crown of the Old Iron King.

An ancient greatsword of unknown origin.

This sword was passed down through generations, until it reached Gordin, wandering knight of Forossa, and was lost upon his death.

Uncannily, every last one of the prominent swordsmen who inherited this weapon was left-handed.

In-Game Description

An ancient greatsword of unknown origin.
This sword was wielded by the rebel Raime
before he was exiled, but in his shame he cast it
aside as he fled Drangleic. It was recovered by
Gordin, wandering knight of Forossa and was
thought to be lost with him.

Uncannily, every last one of the prominent
swordsmen who inherited this weapon
was left-handed.

Availability

At the bottom of the cursed tower before reaching the Foyer bonfire in Brume Tower, located in a metal chest. Caution should be exercised, as there are three Ashen Warriors in the ash on the ground that will attempt to ambush any unwary player as they go for the chest.

Characteristics

As noted in the description, the sword has historically been wielded by left-handed swordsmen. As such, when the weapon is equipped in the player's left hand, it provides different strong attacks and gains noticeably increased damage scaling (including scaling on infused damage types). These unique strong attacks are quite slow, but force enemies off their feet.

One should take care to not use the strong attacks of this weapon too often, as it wears down its durability quickly, putting emphasis on needing to be watched carefully to ensure it doesn't break while in combat or using the Bracing Knuckle Ring to slow down the durability loss. This is easily noted as one uses the one-handed strong attack often, especially against mobs of enemies.

This weapon has a unique power stance strong attack when dual-wielded with any greatsword (other weapon types will use the power stance attack of that weapon), where the player spins and slashes with both weapons before jumping and flipping into a downward smash, forcing enemies to the ground.

In PvE, many enemies can be knocked down with any of the unique strong attacks (one-handed, two-handed, power stance). As non-player entities are still vulnerable to the two-handed and power stance strong attacks when knocked down, one is able to land further strong attacks, repeatedly forcing the enemy down until dead, as stamina can regenerate faster than the time it takes for the enemy to get back up and retaliate (even without the Chloranthy Ring).

It has a B scaling with Strength when upgraded to +5.

Interestingly, when the sword is wielded in the right hand, the moveset mirrors that of the Claymore.

Moveset (left-handed)

Attack	Description
One-handed Weak Attack	Alternating horizontal slashes.
One-handed Strong Attack	Winds back weapon and quickly spins, completing a full revolution, connecting twice and knocking enemies off their feet on the second hit. Additional input results in the user winding up again before performing an upward diagonal slash that does not knock enemies down.
Two-handed Weak Attack	Slightly faster alternating horizontal slashes.
Two-handed Strong Attack	Forward thrust, further input yields a spinning slash. Parry button (R2/RT): Wind up before performing a front flip that ends with a vertical slash. The front flip staggers enemies, leaving them open to the slash, and the slash itself smashes enemies into the ground.
Jump Attack	The player jumps up and smashes the sword into the ground.
Two-handed Jump Attack	Same as the one-handed jump attack.
Running Attack	Run forward and performs a spin attack to the left.
Two-handed Running Attack	Similar to one-handed, but sending the user farther forward and dealing higher damage.
Rolling Attack	Forward thrust.
Two-handed Rolling Attack	Spin and sweep the weapon.
Left-handed Weak Attack	Same slashes as right handed attacks but performed on left-hand.
Left-handed Strong Attack	Perform a spinning attack when wielded with one-hand.

Trivia

• Its appearance and moveset alludes it to being the same corrupted greatsword wielded by Knight Artorias in Dark Souls. In a twist of irony, whereas Artorias' left arm was broken, all the future wielders of his sword were left-handed.
• It is not possible to respawn the sword through the use of a Bonfire Ascetic due to it being found in a metal chest. One would have to proceed onto the next playthrough of the game in order to retrieve another one.
