Magic Shield is a Sorcery in Dark Souls.
In-Game Description
- Sorcery for casters who wield swords. Magic augmentation: left shield.
- Shields augmented by magic are resistant to magic attacks and have higher stability. This spell makes it possible to challenge powerful foes with a small shield.
Availability
- Sold by Griggs of Vinheim for 3,000 souls, provided that the player has 10 Intelligence or more.
- Sold by Big Hat Logan for 3,000 souls. Initially only sells to players that have 15 intelligence or higher, but after his rescue in The Duke's Archives, he lifts this requirement.
General information
Shield buff that increases the stability of the shield held in the left hand by 20% and cuts blocked magic damage by 70%, stacking multiplicatively with the shield's unenchanted block ability. Magic Shield will dispel if the player unequips their shield in any way, including two handing. It is weaker than Strong Magic Shield. Additionally, it should be noted that Magic Shield may not be cast on a shield equipped in the right hand.
Overview
Although extra stability can be helpful, Magic Shield lasts only for a scant 15 seconds, making it difficult to use in prolonged fights or serial engagements.
