It's like having The Witcher Serie's events described as canonic in a the Witcher's wiki. It is not, simply because the canon material is the original material and nothing else. This is nothing new, Bible's studies have already faced the problem of considering canon the result of poor translation or transcription mistakes. The English text giving a gender to a character where the Japanese text is neutral is not a contradiction. The idea that the Sinner is Eygil is heavy speculation, as Eygil is a character with minimal lore, of which none implies that they'd seek redemption or deserve punishment for their work.
