The Lizardmen are enemies in Dark Souls II.
Description[]
A Hollow that lived in an aquatic environment for an extended period of time and eventually adapted to its surroundings by mutating into its present form. These creatures prowl the shallow waters of the Shrine of Amana, perpetually searching for sources of fresh Souls.[1]
Lizardmen appear to be hollowed travelers who wear tattered clothing. Their exposed flesh appears to be raw. Typically, the Lizardmen will lie in wait within the water beside one of the paths in the Shrine of Amana for unknowing passers-by, at whom they will leap. They are often seen from afar with fireflies flying above them, which emit a particular sound.
When hearing the song of a Milfanito, Brightbugs will surround the Lizardmen, revealing their positions and reducing their aggro range almost to the point of passiveness, only attacking the player when extremely close.
Lizardmen are only encountered in the Shrine of Amana.
Strategy[]
Lizardmen are weak enemies although they can be very dangerous if they manage to sneak up on an unaware player. Clouds of fireflies can be used to locate them under the water which enables the player to dispatch them from a distance.
Although Lizardmen do not inflict much damage, they cause Bleed damage which can be fatal if there are other enemies nearby.
Extreme caution must be taken when traversing the Shrine of Amana while holding a lit torch, as the torch will drastically increase the Lizardmen's aggro range and an overwhelming amount of them can pursue the player at once. As such, it is best not to wander with a lit torch unless the player is truly confident in their ability to take out the Lizardmen.
If surrounded by Brightbugs due to a Milfanito's song, their revealed positions and reduced aggro range will make it very easy to simply walk around the Lizardmen. This will also prevent a torch from increasing their aggro range.
