The Large Leather Shield is a medium shield in Dark Souls.

In-Game Description

Large, leather-covered round shield. Choice shield for hunters.

Wood shields are lighter than metal shields, but with lower physical damage reductions, and reduced shield stability.

Availability

The Large Leather Shield is given to the Hunter class at the beginning of the game. It can also be purchased from Andre of Astora for 800 souls, or obtained as a drop from the Phalanx in the Painted World of Ariamis.

Characteristics

The Large Leather Shield is an ultra-light Medium Sheild with surprisingly good Physical, Lightning, and Fire damage absorption. Only the Wooden Shield and Heater Shield are comparable in damage reduction to weight ratio. Although the Large Leather Shield's Stability isn't designed for late game bosses, the Large Leather Shield is one of the lightest shields in the game, making it useful for characters that wish to remain mobile. The Large Leather Shield has medium deflection and fast parry speed. When upgraded to crystal, the durability is 20.
