The Ivory Straight Sword is a straight sword in Dark Souls II: Crown of the Ivory King.

In-Game Description

Sword of Fabian, knight of Eleum Loyce.
This blade, crafted with ivory ore native
to the land, harnesses souls to slash at foes.
Sir Fabian led the loyal knights of Eleum Loyce
straight into the depths of chaos to exterminate
the terrible things that dwelled there,
but not one of the selfless knights returned.

Trade the Soul of Aava, the King's Pet along with 8,000 souls to Weaponsmith Ornifex.

The Ivory Straight Sword is a very unusual weapon, as it is the only straight sword to deal Strike damage, and each attack consumes ten durability without the use of a Bracing Knuckle Ring. It also has the lowest stability of any weapon in the game, making it inefficient for blocking, and it is considered the second lightest weapon in the game, just behind the Handmaid's Ladle.

One of the other major drawbacks of the Ivory Straight Sword is without a doubt its requirements, as it is necessary to possess points in Dexterity, and the weapon possesses no scaling and cannot be buffed or infused, thus severely limiting its potential in combat. It can, however, be used in conjunction with Flynn's Ring and Ring of Blades, with their full effect, thus augmenting its damage a by a maximum of 100 damage.

If the requirements of this weapon are not met, then the Ivory Straight Sword will behave differently, in that its white beam will not be manifested when swung, and the weapon itself will deal about 10~15 points of damage. In essence, if the players do not have the necessary requirements, then the Ivory Straight Sword becomes "worse", than the previously mentioned Handmaid's Ladle, which is already by itself considered a "joke weapon".

Contrary to popular belief, however, the Ivory Straight sword is indeed very powerful, albeit very situational. Though it is mediocre at best when riposting or backstabbing, it has an amazingly powerful two-handed strong attack, so powerful in fact that it has the potential to inflict almost 1500 damage in a single strike. However, it must be stressed that this strong attack comes at the price of having a "sweet spot" that can only be executed perfectly by staying at a certain distance of an enemy, or if the enemy is large enough, then the attack will deal its full damage. It also must be noted that this attack takes quite some time to deliver, and as such must be timed correctly.

  • Critical attacks, such as backstabs, do not drain durability.
  • The two-handed strong attack is capable of dealing more damage than critical attacks from most weapons in the game, provided it is hit at the correct distance.
  • To parry the Ivory Straight Sword, one would have to parry the sword itself. This means that the beam may still damage the parrying player.
