- For the Dark Souls III variant, see Iron Set (Dark Souls III).
The Iron Set is a medium armor set in Dark Souls.
Availability[]
Dropped by Solaire of Astora.
Plot[]
The Iron Set is worn by Solaire of Astora. Despite his grand claims, the description makes the Iron Set to be a rather plain (but also dependable) suit of armor.
Characteristics[]
With unspectacular physical defenses when fully upgraded the Iron Set seems remarkably unimpressive for when it becomes available. However, this is offset by its unusually high elemental defenses; of the medium armor sets, and when fully upgraded, Solaire's set has the third highest Magic Defense, relatively high Flame Defense and the second highest Lightning Defense within its weight class.
One of the biggest advantages of Solaire's personal equipment, however, is its weight; it is the third lightest medium armor set in the game. This makes it one of the most efficient armor sets when considering the ratio of defense to weight, and it's an excellent choice for players who wish to have good protection but still remain mobile.
The Iron Set offers overall mediocre resistances but moderate Curse Resist and some Poise.
One of the main drawbacks it has is that Solaire of Astora must be killed to get it – either as part of his quest line, or at one of his encounters.
