Infested Ghouls are an enemy in Dark Souls.

Location[]

They are encountered in upper Blighttown, mainly in the area leading from the Depths entrance.

Description[]

These warped humanoid creatures attack their enemy with daggers, spears and even corpses. Their skin is a pink and purplish color, and their yellow eyes can hardly be seen because of their small size. They wear worn-out, dirty tunics, or simple skirts.

They can grab their opponent and bite them repeatedly after emitting a ferocious roar. They're also intelligent, to some extent, as they will use ladders to decisively pursue their prey.

Strategy[]

  • Their high health combined with their tendency to gang up on the player make them dangerous opponents. Weapons like Katanas are best suited to combat them as they have decent damage and crowd control.
  • Their attacks have particularly slow windups, making it easy to parry them.
  • Their grab attacks can be escaped through repeatedly pressing the attack buttons.
  • If the opportunity arises, it is very simple to kick them off of platforms to their deaths. This can also be accomplished through stun locking them with weapons like Daggers or Curved Swords, though care does need to be taken to ensure the player does not fall to their death in turn.

  • One of these creatures is strangely found inside a green pot. If the creature is freed, it will still attack.
  • The Infested Ghouls are the only enemies in the game that drop Soul items.
