Indictments are online play items in Dark Souls.

In-Game Description

Slip sold by bishop of Velka, Goddess of Sin. If you are killed by an invader, use this to report the crime of the trespasser.
The indicted player will be added to a list of unfortunate souls who will one day face the wrath of the Blades of the Darkmoon.

Availability[]

Sold by Oswald of Carim for 200 souls each.

General information[]

Having an indictment on person allows the player to indict other players that have killed them, allowing members of the Blade of the Darkmoon covenant to invade them. Indicted players appear in the Book of the Guilty that is viewable by all players. Each indictment raises the Sin of guilty players by one. The only way to reduce the indictment counter is to be killed by members of the Blade of the Darkmoon covenant, die while they are present in the world, or request absolution through Oswald. A single indictment can be used indefinitely.

Players cannot indict blue phantoms invading on the behalf of the Blade of the Darkmoon covenant, but other invaders, such as Forest Hunters, adherents of the Path of the Dragon covenant, and Darkwraiths, are indictable. Phantoms invading through a Gravelord Sign cannot be indicted either.

Players do not need to be killed by invaders in order to indict them. As long as they die while the invader is in their world, the indictment option is available.

Notes[]

Multiple copies of indictments can be obtained, but there is no direct benefit in purchasing more than one copy as a single indictment can indict an infinite amount of times, although some players buy more than one to drop them in invasions in order to enhance the Blade of the Darkmoon covenant PvP.
