Homeward is a miracle in Dark Souls II.

In-Game Description

A miracle that returns its caster to the last bonfire rested at. Traditionally, its destination was the caster's homeland.
The curse slowly erodes one's memory, until even one's birthplace is reduced to a figment of a clouded past. But the bonfires are constant, a beacon for the tragically afflicted.

Availability[]

Can be bought from Licia of Lindeldt for 2,400 souls.

General information[]

Identical to using a Homeward Bone, when cast, the player is asked whether they want to return to the last bonfire. If they accept, they then kneel on the ground and teleport. Homeward and other warping items cannot be used if player or NPC invaders/phantoms are present.

As Homeward is a spell, it can be used an unlimited amount of times, unlike Homeward Bones. Despite this, Homeward does take up an attunement slot which could be better suited for other spells. The Aged Feather has the same effect except it does not need to be attuned, making it a direct upgrade.

Use of Homeward and other bonfire-warping items reset the area and all respawnable enemies, but it does not reset the character nor does it count as resting. Unlike other warping-items, Homeward isn't useful for no bonfire runs since it requires attunement, which requires resting. Even in NG+, the Aged Feather is better suited. Note that Estus Flasks and spell casts will not recharge as a result.

This spell, along with the Darksign, Aged Feather, and Homeward Bones will warp you back to the spawn gazebo in Things Betwixt if both the Fire Keeper's Dwelling in Things Betwixt and The Far Fire in Majula are unlit, potentially as a softlock prevention measure and/or a default warp location.

This is the only spell that will always have one cast, no matter what Attunement level the player is at. However, the use of items that grant extra casts, such as the Saint's Hood or a Northern Ritual Band variant, can be used to increase the number of spell casts.
