Hollow Thieves, also known as Hollow or Undead Assassins are an enemy type in Dark Souls.

Strategy[]
Hollow Thieves are fast and deadly enemies despite their low health. Their attacks include the use of Throwing Knives and the Bleed-inducing Bandit's Knife, which also has a high critical rating. They always attack in groups, sometimes with Attack Dogs, and often from multiple different angles. Avoiding getting surrounded is a good idea.
When first encountered, Hollow Thieves attempt to ambush the player by bursting through doors as the player walks by them in the lower Undead Burg. It is possible to damage them prior to them opening the doors by attacking the doors.
Hollow Thieves can be tricky to engage in a melee, thanks to the speed and damage of their knife attacks. Timing blocks and attacks are consequently difficult, but very useful. Outside of its attacks, assassins can also shift into a parrying posture, raising shield up to one side while holding their daggers in front of them; most melee attacks used at this time have a high chance of being parried and riposted for high damage. Use of jumping attacks, kicks, and ranged attacks can help combat this.
