Hollow Pyromancers, also known as Undead Pyromancers, are enemies added in Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin. They were not present in the original release of Dark Souls II.

Description[]

Hollow Pyromancers are Hollows wearing the Tattered Set and wielding a Pyromancy Flame.

Locations[]

Three total are located past the Rise of the Dead bonfire in the Shrine of Amana.

Strategy[]

These enemies use multiple high-level pyromancies, and the first one has a dagger (which they rarely use). Thus a player should approach with fire resistant equipment.

Headshots with a few poison arrows from long range will whittle down their health to below half. If you pepper them with arrows from afar, they will throw pyromancies from whatever range they're standing at, slowing down their pursuit and giving you time to build damage.

Be careful not to pull the 2nd and 3rd ones (at the bottom of the stairs) at the same time, and if you lead them up the stairs, sprint past the Milfanito out to the ledge if you don't want her to get roasted.

They tend to uselessly spam Lingering Flame from medium range - watch for their windup being a small flame (Lingering Flame) rather than a huge one (Great Chaos Fireball). If you keep your distance and dodge (or even walk) sideways after each Great Chaos Fireball, their Lingering Flame casts will provide ample opportunity to hit them with a spell or (poison) arrow. Then it's just a matter of patience.
