Characteristics[]
One of the most unique weapons in the game, the Heysel Pick is capable of performing feats that no other weapon can accomplish.
It is one of six hybrid catalyst weapons available to the player, in this case allowing it to attack like a weapon and cast Sorceries like a staff. Its physical component scales primarily with Strength, while its magical component scales purely with Intelligence. Like other hybrid weapons, its elemental damage component has the scaling cap of a catalyst, meaning that it can continue to gain meaningful returns on damage by leveling Intelligence all the way to 60.
As a weapon, the Heysel Pick is unique among the hybrids. As it is a hammer class weapon it is only one of two hybrids that possesses Hyper Armor, the other being the Immolation Tinder, but it is also the only Sorcery catalyst whose physical component scales primarily with Strength. As well, unlike the other Sorcery catalysts the Heysel Pick has no Faith wielding requirement, meaning that it is far less cumbersome to fit onto a build.
Because it is such a compact and easy-to-wield weapon, the Heysel Pick is capable of performing Sorcery combos along with its high-stagger attacks, particularly when wielded in the off-hand. Used properly, it can grant its wielder extreme flexibility as well as high mix-up potential, becoming a threat at all ranges. This means that casting speed is a high priority to obtain, and as such a Sage Ring is virtually mandatory in order to use this weapon effectively. Properly used, it can become an unpredictable and nigh-unstoppable force.
