For categorization purposes on this wiki, Heavy Armor Sets are armor sets in Dark Souls II that have a total weight of 30 or more.
Heavy armor sets, such as Havel's Set, are good for tanking because of their high defense and poise. They allow for moderate to high damage to be taken without killing the player, however no armor set can make the player invincible, so caution is still your best defense.
Heavy sets, while they provide high defense also make moving and rolling much harder. The Royal Soldier's Ring, the First, Second and Third Dragon Ring all increase Maximum Equip Load, thus possibly allowing for faster rolling.
Again, strong armor does not make a player invincible. So focus and concentration can still trump having heavy armor.
