Havel's Greatshield is a greatshield in Dark Souls II.

In-Game Description

A shield formed by chiseling a giant boulder. As solid as a rock, this shield is also very heavy.
So heavy, in fact, that he who takes it into battle is not allowed to flee, until either he or his opponent has fallen.

Availability[]

Havel's Greatshield is found on a corpse in a pot behind dozen of poison traps in the Upper Gutter. The player must have the Forgotten Key, which is gained from killing both of the Elite Giants at the bottom of Black Gulch, hidden away near The Rotten. It is acquired with the rest of Havel's Set.

Characteristics[]

Havel's Greatshield is one of the, if not the best greatshield available in the game. Boasting a complete resistance to physical damage and high resistance to elemental damage, shrugging off any blows that its way come. Unfortunately, unlike its predecessor, it lacks the stone flesh skill that allows the user to have an innate Iron Flesh ability when the time comes.

That being said, it has a very demanding Strength requirement — 45 levels, to be precise. This blocks most of its usage for builds that do not invest heavily in Strength.

Upgrades[]

Upgrades with Twinkling Titanite.

Notes[]

  • Havel's Greatshield is one of the heaviest shields in the game, requiring 45 Strength in order to wield it effectively. It has high resistances to magic, fire, and lightning damage, as well as a 100% physical damage reduction, making it a very versatile, all-around shield for those who are strong enough to wield it.
