The Greatsword is an ultra greatsword in Dark Souls III.
In-Game Description
- This ultra greatsword, with its thick blade, is one of the heaviest of its kind.
- Highly destructive if intolerably heavy.
- There would appear to be some credence to the rumors that this sword tested the true limits of human strength.
- Skill: Stomp
Use one's weight to lunge forward with a low stance and increased poise, and follow with strong attack for a spinning slash.
Availability[]
Found in the Farron Keep, on top of one of the two broken bridge sections, near the area with the first brazier and opposite to some Purple Moss Clumps.
Characteristics[]
The Greatsword is an extreme ultra greatsword, giving up versatility and efficiency for sheer size and raw power. Its overhead swings reach high above the wielder, and its horizontal attacks cover a large area in front of the wielder. The Greatsword also features a low Dexterity requirement of 10 and the highest potential attack rating of all Heavy-infused ultra greatswords, lending itself well to strength builds looking to overpower their enemies. Its high base damage also lends itself well to the non-scaling Deep and Fire infusions, although Raw is always outperformed by Heavy.
However, it is the third heaviest ultra greatsword in the game at 20 weight units, and its two-handed attacks can be difficult to use against nimble opponents, as the vertical nature of the light attacks make them relatively easy to avoid.
