Chaos Great Fireball is a Pyromancy in Dark Souls.

In-Game Description

Art of the Flame of Chaos, which engulfed the Witch of Izalith and her daughters. Hurl giant chaos fireball.
The Flames of Chaos can melt stone, producing a short-lived lava glob.

Great Chaos Fireball is obtained after joining Chaos Servant covenant. However, unlike most other magic, only one copy may be obtained, and going into NG+ does not grant additional casts.

General information[]

The player hurls a giant fireball, which does a large amount of damage on impact with a good area of effect, identical to Great Fireball. The fireball itself deals fire damage for 3.0 times the flame's magic adjust and the lava pool deals fire damage for 2.0 time the flame's magic adjust.

Contrary to what the name suggests, Great Chaos Fireball does not scale with the player's amount of humanity (like Chaos weapons do). It can only be improved by upgrading and ascending the Pyromancy Flame used to cast it.

Thanks to its high damage and large area of effect, Great Chaos Fireball is great against clusters of enemies, as well as single strong enemies. However, as it requires two slots, Great Chaos Fireball does less damage than most other pyromancies in terms of damage per slot, making it unsuitable for long journeys between distant bonfires.

In PvP, Great Chaos Fireball is one of the more popular pyromancies (along with Great Combustion and Fire Tempest), due its high damage, good area of effect, and lingering lava; however, manual aiming will likely be required to hit experienced players, as they will easily dodge it otherwise. This can be tricky at best; however, the high damage can be well worth it. Players must be cautious when casting this spell as if the enemy is close enough, they will have an opportunity for a backstab.
