The Grass Crest Shield is a medium shield in Dark Souls.

In-Game Description

Old medium metal shield of unknown origin. The grass crest is lightly imbued with magic, which slightly speeds stamina recovery.

Availability

The Grass Crest Shield is found in Darkroot Basin guarded by a Black Knight.

Characteristics

The Grass Crest Shield has medium deflection and normal parry speed.

It has the unique and powerful effect of raising stamina regeneration speed by 10, making it ideal for putting on one's back while two-handing a weapon. The regeneration can stack with other stamina regeneration effects, such as those of Green Blossoms or the Mask of the Child.

However, it is mediocre when used as an actual shield, and is therefore not a good choice for block-heavy builds, as the lack of stability will cancel out any gains in stamina recovery.

When upgraded to crystal the shield's durability is 20.

Notes

• The Grass Crest Shield is very popular due to its light weight and stamina-regenerating powers. However, there are shields that are only slightly heavier with better stability and resistance. The Grass Crest Shield, then, is best for traveling and fighting non-threatening enemies, but it's not necessarily the best shield against dangerous opponents.
• Two-handing a weapon with this shield equipped still grants stamina regeneration.
• Wielding two grass crest shields will cause the stamina regeneration effect to stack, granting a total of +20 stamina regeneration.
