The Gargoyle Tail Axe is an axe in Dark Souls.

In-Game Description

Sliced tail of the gargoyle guarding the Bell of Awakening in the Undead Church or patrolling Anor Londo.

Can be used as a bronze battle axe. Bends dramatically during large attacks, owing to its nature as a tail.

Availability

The Gargoyle Tail Axe can be obtained by cutting the tail of one of the Bell Gargoyles encountered in the Undead Parish boss fight or from those inhabiting Anor Londo.

It's recommended to summon a phantom before the fight since it can be difficult to land attacks behind a gargoyle, resulting in killing it before removing its tail. Solaire of Astora is most helpful in this battle because he will either open the gargoyle to an attack from behind or cut off the tail himself.

Characteristics

The Gargoyle Tail Axe is one of the few weapons that increases resistance to Bleed, Poison and Toxic. It also scales well with Dexterity.

As with other "Gargoyle" weapons or when equipping the Curse- or Poisonbite Rings, it may give the appearance of creating a small buildup of Poison, Toxic or Bleed (see Buildup for an explanation of this effect).

Moveset

Attack	Description

One-handed Strong Attack	The axe bends backward, which the player then swings forward in a 180° arc. Medium startup and recovery.
Two-handed Weak Attack	Two-handed swing to the left. Medium recovery.
Two-handed Strong Attack	The axe bends backward, which the player then swings forward in an uppercut-like motion. Medium startup and recovery.
Jump Attack	The player jumps and then smashes the axe into the ground.
Running Attack	The player swings the axe downward.
Rolling Attack	Quick overhead chop
Kick	Standard kick.
Left-handed Weak Attack	Block.
Left-handed Strong Attack	The player swings the axe to the right.

Bugs

• When using a pine resin on this weapon and performing the two-handed heavy attack, the resin will freeze when following the weapon while the weapon bends. This can be observed most easily with Charcoal Pine Resin.
