For the Dark Souls variant, see Four-Pronged Plow.

The Four-Pronged Plow (四又鋤 Shiyūjo, Four-Branched Plow) is a spear in Dark Souls III.

In-Game Description

This four-pronged plow is shaped like a fist, and is a worker's tool in the Undead Settlement.
Not originally intended for battle, but serves as a deadly weapon owing to its sharp points.
Skill: Charge
Hold spear at waist and charge at foe. Only, it is important to have good footing.

Availability[]

Dropped by Peasant Hollows who wield them in the Undead Settlement.

Characteristics[]

An unassuming weapon, the Four-Pronged Plow is considered one of the strongest spears in the game.

Despite its appearance, this weapon is one of the longest spears available, and even competes with Pikes in terms of reach. Of the weapons in its class, only the Drang Twinspears and Saint Bident have longer range, with the former only achieving this with its paired attacks and the latter being a Faith-oriented weapon. And while the Tailbone Spear has equal reach, it is much weaker in terms of damage output. Add to this the Plow's ability to be infused, and it solidifies its place as one of the most versatile and powerful spears available.

However, the Four-Pronged Plow's greatest weakness is that its variant of Charge has significantly less reach than that of any other polearm, and will cause the wielder to trip and fall upon completion, leaving them vulnerable. As such, while it is very powerful in all other areas, it essentially has no usable skill, significantly curtailing its moveset.

Trivia[]

  • Despite being referred to as a plow in-game, it is actually a pitchfork.
  • Even though it is called "four-pronged", a fifth prong clearly exists, though it is broken off halfway. As such, the weapon highly resembles a hand in shape.
  • Hollows that use this weapon never trip when attacking with it.
