Fire Witches, also known as Burning Stake Witches, are enemies in Dark Souls III.
In-Game Description
- The witches who lead the Pontiff's Knights were originally ordained as holy knights. It was not long however, before their hearts were swallowed by the Profaned Flame.[1]
Description[]
Former commanders of the Pontiff Knights, these once holy warriors were burnt and corrupted by the Profaned Flame. They now continue to guard the city as tormented spirits.
The Witches are heavily armored and wield tridents infused with the power of the flame, granting them devastating pyromancies in combat.
Location[]
Multiple Fire Witches are found throughout Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, usually escorted by an entourage of lesser enemies.
Strategy[]
Fire Witches use several different pyromancies that can cause heavy damage if the player is caught in them. They will usually switch between conjuring a trail of fire directly at the player or creating a single pillar of flame under their feet. Both of these attacks can be used from a long distance and can hit the player even if they are behind cover.
These enemies often appear with Pontiff Knights and Irithyllian Slaves, which makes them challenging to engage directly. It is recommended to take out the accompanying foes before dealing with the Witches themselves, as the player can easily be staggered by other attacks, leaving them open to the Witch's pyromancy.
Witches are less capable of defending themselves at close-range, although they will use their trident as a melee weapon, as well as casting a medium-ranged stream of flames. They turn slowly and are easily staggered which makes dispatching them relatively easy, as long as the player stays behind them.
