Man Serpent Summoners are enemies in Dark Souls III.

In-Game Description

There were those among the man serpents as well as people, who devoted themselves to magic, and the existence of a cane that could invoke sorceries from ages past.[1]

Description[]

Only two summoners appear in the game. Their main method of attack consists in infinitely summoning enemies to deal with their foes. They are usually positioned away from the player's immediate reach, allowing them to summon at least one enemy to contend with. They are very weak at close range, resorting to attack slowly with their staves or by casting minor spells.

The first one is encountered on the second floor of the Dragon-Kin Mausoleum and summons Drakeblood Knights to fight for him. The first one of these foes will drop the Drakeblood Greatsword. Additionally, there is a rare chance it will summon Havel the Rock at this location. Defeating him will yield the Dragon Tooth and Havel's Greatshield, items the player would eventually have acquired at his fixed location at the top of a building further into the level.

The second summoner can be found before reaching the Great Belfry. He calls in the Rapier Champion, a very powerful enemy similar to the Sword Master, although he wields a rapier instead. Defeating this enemy the first time yields Ricard's Rapier. This summoner can also call in Havel.

Location[]

Found in Archdragon Peak. Only two are encountered in the game, the first one on the second floor of the Dragon-Kin Mausoleum and the second one before reaching the Great Belfry.

Strategy[]

The first summoner can be used for farming souls. The Drakeblood Knights he summons, each yield 4,000 souls upon defeat (an amount that can be increased by equipping items that give more souls to the player, like the Covetous Silver Serpent Ring, the Shield of Want and the Symbol of Avarice) and they will always spawn at the same spot. The player just needs to wait for them by standing behind of their spawning location, receive them with a backstab and then finish them off.

  • The Man Serpent Set, worn by the Man Serpent Summoners and probably intended to have been dropped by them, was removed from the final release of Dark Souls III.
