The Battle Axe is an axe in Dark Souls.

In-Game Description

Standard battle axe. Inflicts regular damage, making it effective in various situations.

Powerful attack due to its weight, but one wrong swing leaves the wielder open, so timing and proximity to the enemy must be judged carefully.

Availability

• Bandit class's starting weapon.
• Andre of Astora sells it for 1,000 souls.
• Semi-uncommon drop from the axe-wielding Hollow Warriors.

Characteristics

Has a decent starting damage compared to some other axes in the game, and it remains a reasonably powerful weapon for the entire game. However, its disadvantage lies in its quite short range, making it necessary to get close to enemies to hit them.

If the player does not hit anything while swinging it, he/she will be staggered, adding noticeable ending lag to the attack. For horizontal swings, the player is still staggered if the axe only hits at the very end of the swing arc.

Moveset

Jump Attack	Downward chop while jumping.
Running Attack	Similar to the weak attack.
Rolling Attack	Overhead attack. Faster than the strong attack.
Kick	Standard kick.
Left-handed Weak Attack	Block.
Left-handed Strong Attack	Mirrored version of the one-handed weak attack.
