The Farron Greatsword is a soul-transposed ultra greatsword in Dark Souls III.

In-Game Description

Greatsword of the Abyss Watchers which is atypically paired with an unusual dagger.
The dagger is utilized as a wedge in the left hand while the greatsword is held in the right, a unique technique that was synonymous with the Undead Legion. Confounds foes in the manner of wolves hunting prey.
Skill: Parry
Deflect an attack when timed properly and follow up with a critical hit, executed with the dagger.

Availability[]

Obtained by transposing the Soul of the Blood of the Wolf with Ludleth of Courland at no soul cost.

Characteristics[]

The Farron Greatsword is a unique two-piece weapon that caters towards quality builds leaning towards Dexterity. It is one of the lightest weapons in the ultra greatsword category, and its attacks consume very little stamina for its class. Its attacks can deal solid damage, making it a powerful weapon in the right hands.

Functioning similarly to Paired Weapons, two-handing will equip the dagger in the off-hand, yielding unique attack combos and allowing the wielder to parry with the dagger. The dagger combos can yield strong stun-locking potential, while also providing the wielder with strong offensive momentum and wide sweeping attacks. However, the inability to hold the weapon in both hands is also a crucial flaw, as all attacks performed by this weapon short of the jumping attack can be parried, a disadvantage that is not shared by any other ultra greatsword.

As with the Wolf Knight's Greatsword, the Farron Greatsword deals bonus damage to enemies rooted in the Abyss. This makes it particularly strong against enemies such as Darkwraiths and numerous foes in The Ringed City, including the first phase of Slave Knight Gael.

Moveset[]

Note: When two-handing this weapon, instead of wielding the sword with two hands, the user will instead wield the dagger in their off-hand. Therefore, attacks performed with the R1/RB and R2/RT buttons will be identical to their one-handed versions.
