Use[edit | edit source]
Farron Flashsword, while not as strong or possessing as much range as Soul Greatsword, has the potential to be a very potent spell, as the true power behind the spell lies within its utility.
When cast, it mimics the attack pattern of a straight sword, and the caster can even perform running and rolling attacks. The sword can be swung in quick succession repeatedly, as the FP cost is very minimal, and the slashes are relatively-quick to cast and can chain together effectively.
With a high pool of Intelligence, the damage of each slash can be on par with what a Crystal-infused straight sword is capable of. These traits allow sorcerers to have a reliable, and effective, close-quarters tool for dispatching of foes that close in on them, instead of having to run the risk of using ranged Sorceries at close range. Mixing Farron Flashsword with Soul Greatsword is an effective way to deal with aggressive enemies, and in terms of PvP, disorient or otherwise catch players off-guard.
However, there is a catch to using this sorcery; since it behaves like a straight sword when in use, it is able to be parried much like one. This should be taken into consideration before engaging an enemy that can parry the caster or dons a parrying shield.
Notes[edit | edit source]
- Farron Flashsword is one of the four Sorceries required to purchase, in order for Orbeck to bestow the Slumbering Dragoncrest Ring and "Silent Ally" gesture.
