Ember is a skill in Dark Souls III.

In-Game Description

Cross the twin timeworn greatswords to reignite a short-lived flame. A lightning-quick upward heave slices the very air, and transitions into normal or strong attacks.

Description[]

When activated, the wielder brings both greatswords together to the left, charges them and then launches a Fire projectile forward, while buffing the greatswords with Fire for the second phase. A normal attack will cause the wielder to lunge forward and thrust with both greatswords, while a strong attack will perform a leap into a downward slam that creates an explosion at the impact point.

Usage[]

Single Player[]

All phases of the skill can deal tremendous damage when they hit. Against tough enemies, it can be useful to initiate the skill at point-blank range, to hit the target with both the greatsword sweep and the projectile, then performing the second phase and letting the enemy's hitbox block the momentum to strike in place.

Online[]

The initial projectile is difficult to use, as it has very little steering capability once activated; the wielder will launch the projectile in the initial facing direction and will have little control over changing its direction. However, the second phase of the skill has considerably more steering power, being capable of being directed to the sides of the initial direction of the projectile.

What this skill provides is strong gap-closing power, as the projectile has moderate range and both the normal and strong attacks possess strong forward momentum, carrying the wielder closer to a distant target.

Weapons[]

Notes[]

  • The Fire buff on the greatswords is only applied for the normal or strong attack chain of the second phase. Failing to perform the second phase will not retain the buff for attacks outside of the skill.
