The Effigy Shield (Japanese: 邪神の盾, Hepburn: Jashin no tate, lit. 'Evil God's Shield') is a small shield in Dark Souls.
In-Game Description
- Frightful occult shield. Defends against divine weapons and lightning.
- In an ill-fated plot to destroy the very gods, the followers of the occult once attempted to steal the power of Gravelord Nito, the first of the dead.
Availability[]
The Effigy Shield is found on a corpse in Tomb of the Giants on a path close to the second bonfire. The plateau with the two Skeletal Beasts and giant skeleton archer has a slope leading down. Take a right to find the corpse with the shield. A Black Knight guards the path to the Effigy Shield.
Characteristics[]
The Effigy Shield has the highest defense against lightning of any shield in the game which unfortunately is not affected by the Lightning Upgrade Path. It has light deflection and normal parry speed. The crystal durability is 18.
This shield can be used without meeting the Faith requirement, as with the Sanctus. The Faith requirement only applies if it's used as a weapon. Blocking and parrying remain unhindered; however, the stability will be penalized, increasing the likelihood that the player's guard will break.
Resistance defense[]
Along with Physical and Elemental damage reduction, weapons also have hidden stats that reduce the amount of status build-up while blocking.
