The Drang Knights are a pair of enemy characters in Dark Souls III.
In-Game Description
- Proclaimed descendants from the land known for the legend of the Linking of the Fire.
- When the Drang Knights disbanded, they scattered across the lands as sellswords.
- They quickly became known for shieldless, aggressive tactics that struck fear into the hearts of men, until treason meant descending into the abyss, and they were separated forever.[1][2]
Description[]
Two skillful knights clad in the Drang Set, one wielding paired hammers, and the other twinspears. They can spot the player from a very long distance and will rush to attack at the same time.
Using paired weapons gives them the ability to unleash many successive hits and stunlock the player with ease, potentially dealing high amounts of damage. They have very good tracking (most notorious with the knight wielding twinspears), which allows them to hit the player even at a considerable distance.
They will generally buff their weapons with Dark before starting combat.
Location[]
Both knights await near the staircase at the far end of the big courtyard scattered with dead Giant Slaves located after the Pontiff Sulyvahn bonfire.
Strategy[]
Fighting these enemies can be dangerous due to all the hindrances present in the area where they are encountered. Three Deacons will be constantly shooting quick homing fireballs from a floor above, and two supposedly dead Giant Slaves will come to life and attack if approached. In addition, both Drang Knights will attack at the same time, even if only one was alerted.
Rather than confronting them head on, a safer strategy consists in entering a path located on the left side of the courtyard, where several Irithyllian Slaves are congregated; dispose of them first and then damage one of the knights with a ranged attack, thus luring them to fight in that enclosed area, away from the giants and the Deacons' fire.
Yet another strategy consists in climbing up the nearby staircase and making way through the upper floor, dealing with all the Deacons first. Run around the knights from above and surprise them by the rearguard before they have a chance to react, perhaps even starting the battle with a backstab. Use the nearby staircases strategically to attack and escape, and also consider using the ladder behind the nearby illusory wall to hide and lure them to fall to their deaths.
