The Dragonhead Shield is a small shield in Dark Souls III: The Ringed City.
In-Game Description
- This shield, as hard as a great boulder, is formed by the head of the descendant of an Archdragon.
- The Ringed Knights, by command of the gods, stood amongst the ranks who set out to slay the dragons, but their contributions were never lauded.
- Skill: Dragon Breath
Even the descendant of an Archdragon perishes not, and use of this skill restores its former strength, sweeping foes with a frontal exhalation of dragon breath.
Availability[]
Found in The Ringed City. Past the "Show your humanity" puzzle near the Ringed City Streets bonfire, proceed past the Judicator Giant and two Ringed Knights. After climbing down the ladder towards the Purging Monument, make a hard right before the bridge to the monument, and follow the path to a dead end where the shield can be found.

Despite being classified as a shield, the Dragonhead Shield should be wielded as an offensive tool rather than a defensive one.
Defensively, it has moderately high Physical resistance, and extremely good Fire absorption that allows it to be used to block Pyromancies quite reliably. However, owing to being fashioned from the head of an Archdragon, it is particularly vulnerable to Lightning damage, and it weighs more than any other small shield in the game while lacking the stability of a proper shield.
The shield should instead be treated purely as an offensive off-hand weapon that deals Fire damage with its skill, with the ability to hits opponents twice if they stand close enough. Because of its odd wielding requirements, this shield is best used in the hands of a Pyromancer build.
