The Darkdrift is a katana in Dark Souls III.

In-Game Description

A cursed sword with an unseen blade, the choice weapon for Yuria of Londor.
Yuria, a mentor of the Sable Church and accomplished swordswoman, is said to have claimed a hundred lives with this weapon.
Skill: Darkdrift
Aim carefully, and pierce with a large forward lunge. The unseen blade penetrates straight through shields, for nothing can defend from Darkdrift.

AvailabilityEdit

Dropped by Yuria of Londor when she is killed. Alternatively, left at her normal location once she disappears after completing the Lord of Hollows ending.

CharacteristicsEdit

Darkdrift is a unique katana that, despite its flaws, has some interesting characteristics that allow it to fill a special niche.

It has low base damage and does not scale well with Dexterity compared with other katanas. Its damage output is comparable with that of an un-buffed Bloodlust, making it one of the lowest-damaging katanas in the game. However, it makes up for this with its ability to deal chip damage through raised shields, particularly when using strong attacks, allowing its wielder to cut through defensive foes with ease. Its skill further augments this, eschewing the use of Hold for a lunging thrust that is capable of completely bypassing shields.

Despite being upgraded with Twinkling Titanite, Darkdrift can be buffed. Combined with its ability to pierce through shields with its attacks, this attribute of the weapon makes it extremely lethal against any foes that rely on their shields to protect themselves.
