Saulden and the warrior

Saulden and the warrior meet.

Deep within the Shaded Woods, a lone warrior donning the Faraam Set encounters a man sitting next to a bonfire. The warrior tells the man that he doesn't want to cause any harm and advises him to extinguish the bonfire as quickly as possible since it could attract other people with murderous intent. The man appreciates the kind words of the warrior and invites him to sit around the fire for a while. He introduces himself as Saulden and then proceeds to ask the warrior why he has come to "these foul lands" to which the warrior only answers that he has come to find a cure for a curse and promptly moves on. Saulden advises against it, telling the curse bearer that "A blade cannot cut the darkness. Only the flame of a fire can do so." The warrior cockily ignores his advice and remarks that Saulden's sword "belongs to a crestfallen man who hides by his fire", before continuing on his journey.

Venturing fourth within a dark ruin, the curse bearer brandishes a Torch and explores the interior. Suddenly, he is ambushed by an Ironclad Soldier, narrowly missing a swing from its mace but breaking his sword in the process. As the bearer recovers, he takes a sword from one of the many corpses of fallen warriors lying around, and swiftly kills the foe.

The bearer learns his lesson.

The bearer soon realizes that Saulden was right and regrets his impulsiveness, the weight of his actions coming into full effect. Once he encounters a mighty Dragon, the warrior's spirit is completely shattered and he soon realizes that what he wishes more than anything is not glory, but to live. The bearer flees only to be attacked and gravely wounded by a Dark Spirit. Dying, the bearer returns to the same bonfire, with Saulden still sitting there. Using his blood, the bearer desperately writes a summon sign into the ground before dying, his corpse fading away. Moments later, the warrior is reincarnated. Saulden then asks if the warrior will listen to his advice this time. The warrior replies with "I will."
