The Club is a hammer in Dark Souls.

In-Game Description

A simple wooden club. This simple bladeless strike weapon is effective against most foes, is easily handled, and can break the guard of a shield.
However, a single miss makes one wide open, so timing and proximities are crucial.

The club is an early weapon with a plain but effective moveset, and is very effective as a starting weapon. Club has the highest Strength scaling out of the hammers but it suffers from low base damage and Poise damage making other Hammers out perform it rather quickly when upgraded. Unfortunately, the club doesn't grow so well compared to the Mace or Reinforced Club. From "Club" to "Club +15", the damage will be increased from 87 to 182 (110% damage increase). The Mace and Reinforced Club, on the other hand, get a 150% damage increase. Even at lower Strength, the Club will be out damaged starting upgrade level +7. At 40 Strength: +9. This is because Club has its own unique scaling values that diverge from other Hammers when looking into the game parameter files.

Like all Hammers, if an attack doesn't connect with an enemy, the user will stumble and seem to not be able to handle the weight. If the hit connects, the stumble animation does not come into play and the user moves as normal. This animation means that this Hammer gains Sweet Spot Damage bonus.

Notes[]

  • The Occult club found in Anor Londo can be downgraded to a +5 Divine club, making it a powerful and useful weapon even players with no Faith investment to fight the skeletons in the Catacombs and in Gravelord Nito's boss fight. This is because skeletons are weak to Strike damage and will not revive when hit by a divine weapon.

Scaling Percentage Values[]

The following chart lists the scaling percentages when this weapon is fully upgraded. Be advised that:

  • Scaling letters are not an accurate indicator of how a weapon scales, players should look at the percentage scaling of a weapon.
  • Magic and Enchanted upgrade paths reduce Physical Damage while adding Magic Damage, splitting damage between two types. Strength and Dexterity scaling is drastically reduced while adding Intelligence scaling.
  • Divine and Occult upgrade paths reduce Physical Damage while adding Magic Damage, splitting damage between two types. Strength and Dexterity scaling is drastically reduced while adding Faith scaling. Divine adds Divine Auxiliary and Occult adds Occult Auxiliary secondary damage types.
  • Fire, Chaos, and Lightning upgrade paths remove all stat scaling and splits damage between two types. Chaos path adds Humanity Scaling.
  • Raw upgrade path caps at Weapon Level 10 while drastically reducing physical damage scaling and adding slightly more base damage.
  • Crystal upgrade path dramatically increases the base damage of weapons while rendering them unable to be repaired.
  • For PvE purposes all weapons will be better on the Standard Upgrade path to +15. This is because the Split Damage of elementally infused weapons is not added together. The values are reduced separately when going through enemy defenses leading to less damage in practice due to the values of each damage type being smaller.
